| A Chinese celadon glazed ovoid jar from the Kangxi period, painted in underglaze blue and copper red with fruiting peach sprays. 18 cm high, wood cover and old collectors label on the base. Some minor chip to the rim on the inside and a 3 cm hairline to the rim. A vase with simulair glaze and decoration is in the Alfred Baur collection in Geneve. A simulair but smaller jar was sold at Christies London, South Kensington Sale 9842 13 May 2004, lot 114. And a pair of these jars were offered at the Christies sale in New York 21 sept 2000, see scan. | |
